Sensei Spencer Duke

 

 

Sensei Spencer Duke began training at the University Karate Center in 1988.  In 1993, he became the first student to graduate from the Karate Center’s sempai program, and, in 1997, he began regularly instructing classes.  Sensei Duke was awarded his First Dan on September 27, 1998, at the age of fifteen years old.  In June of 2001, he graduated locally from South Plantation High School as valedictorian.  He subsequently enrolled in the University of Miami’s School of Business Administration.

Sensei Duke holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami with concentrations in Finance and Management.  He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami with majors in Legal Studies and Finance.  While attending the University of Miami on scholarship, he earned Summa Cum Laude honors, departmental honors in both Finance and Business Law, and Beta Gamma Sigma honors.

Sensei Duke is currently a Senior Director for Prestige Cruise Holdings (PCH), the market leader in the upper-premium and luxury cruise segments of the cruise industry and parent company of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures for PCH related to compliance, governance, security, information technology operations, and information technology strategy.  Prior to joining PCH, Sensei Duke was employed by Sunera LLC as Director of Financial and Information Technology Consulting.

Sensei Duke is currently the Vice President of the South Florida Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and an active member of the University of Miami Citizens Board, University of Miami President’s Circle, and University of Miami Alumni Association.   From 2010 to 2012, he also served on the Board of Directors and Audit Committee of Alert Health, a nonprofit organization that provides counseling and testing for HIV, viral hepatitis, and STDs; vaccinations to prevent liver and cervical cancer; and treatment for bacterial STDs.
